I love simplicity and when I can see the artist's hand in the creation. These illustration pieces are a testament to this: created on brown paper for simplicity's sake (a paper bag was usually readily available) and the rough illustrative quality allows the colored pencil's lines to show through. The rough lines from the pencil and edges of the torn paper are often contrasted by smooth, accurate curves.
